Oily skin
The characteristics of oily skin are the
presence of large pores that are quite visible, glowing skin during the middle
of the day, the presence of blackheads or whiteheads, and acne on the back as
well as on the chest. Teenagers usually have oily skin, while most of the
adults do not have it. But, the people above 30 years are not totally devoid of
oily skin.
Oily skin has to be well-managed and taken
care. Pricking of the skin spreads the already present bacteria on the face.
The face should not be applied to harsh products and the face should not be
pricked or popped in the case of acne problem. The pores have to be frequently
cleaned and the skin has to be moisturized very often using the light
moisturizer. The products applied on the acne filled skin might cause damage to
it and sunscreen has to be used for the problem. There are several products
available in the market, which are used for making the skin moist and healthy.
The oil on the surface of the skin is due to
the excess secretion of sebum. The oily skin attracts dust and dirt and forms
spots, pimples and blackheads. Oily skin has to be cleaned properly and has
opened pores in it. The oily skin keeps glowing even after washing it, will
secrete more oil after a sleep and prevents the formation of wrinkles.
Excess oil will appear as flakes around the
nose. The oily skin develops discoloration gradually and forms fine lines,
wrinkles as the person, ages. Skin tanning is common for oily skin and makeup
does not stick for long on oily skin. Oily skin also leads to oily hair. The
oily layer on the face is present even after sleeping. The acne blemishes and
pimples remain in the oily skin even after washing the face. The skin appears
slippery and shiny mostly in the forehead region.

Causes of oily skin
If the oil glands in the body are active
extensively they release too much of sebum. This sebum secretion forms the
shiny surface and leads to the formation of blackheads and large pores. In some
stages, the hormonal changes will result in the oily skin formation. The
factors that are responsible for the oily skin development are
§
Genetics: if the parents have this condition then
there are chances for the children to inherit this condition.
§
Drugs: The change in hormone levels in the
body is caused by the intake of medications related to birth control.
§
Maternity: Due to hormonal changes the sebum production
increases.
§
Foods: Though there is no proper evidence to say
that diet is helpful in the oily skin formation. But, decreasing the amount of
fatty food, sugar, salt and fried food are found and increasing the intake of
fruits and vegetables is found to have helped the oily skin.
§
The
changes in the hormones might stimulate the sebum glands to produce more oil,
which might cause the skin to become oily.
§
The
changes in the season will cause the skin to produce more oil.
§
The
wrong cosmetics usage also can worsen the oily skin.
§
The
oily skin can be cleaned using the soap and hot water.
§
The
skin care products that are free of oil can be used for keeping the skin
hydrated and nourished.
§
Treatment
of skin with lavender oil for many times will help to improve the oily skin.
§
Mint juice: This acts as a nice treatment for oily skin.
Fresh mint juice is used on the face as well as on neck every night, prior to
sleeping.
§
Helix Aspersa Muller: This compound is available
in the form of snail cream. The skin physiology is recovered by the usage of
this natural material. This compound is an oil-free immune modulator and the
trigger for regeneration. This compound will eradicate the skin cells that are
dead and retains the pores as opened.
Natural
treatments for oily skin
Oily skin can be treated at home most of the
time. If the skin does not respond to the home remedies, then the person has to
consult the doctor.
§
The
oily skin has to be kept clean all the time and it has to be washed at least
two to three times per day. Any detergent soap can be used and it is also
recommended that dishwashing soap can be added to the regular bath soap. If
this mixture is irritating the facial skin then stop using the soap and use
glycerin for washing the skin and for keeping it healthy.
§
Applying
Aloe vera gel on the face can make the oil on the skin to disappear as the gel
absorbs it. The skin will be turned into dry if it is used for two to three
times per day. The gel will function refreshingly if it is kept cool inside the
refrigerator.
§
Astringents used for wiping: The skin that is oily can
be rubbed with alcohol or with the mixture of alcohol and acetone. This allows
the skin to get degreased.
§
The
paper tissues used on the face will help in soaking excessive oils on the face.
The tissues that can absorb oil can also be used for cleaning the skin
consisting of excess oil.
§
The
face can simply be washed with ordinary water instead of using chemicals to
remove excess oils.
§
The
moisturizers should not be used for the skin that is oily as the skin itself
has sufficient oils that can perform the work of moisturizer. The people who go
outdoors will usually apply sunscreen which protects the skin from getting
damaged. But, this sunscreen has to be applied based on the type of skin
possessed by the person.
§
Scrub: The face has to be scrubbed with the mixture
of almond meal and honey. This paste has to be scrubbed on the face very gently
using a hot cloth. Later this can be rinsed away. Similarly, another scrub can
also be prepared using aloe vera and oatmeal. This paste can be rubbed on the
skin for a period of about 15 minutes and then it has to be cleaned away
gently. These scrubs cannot be used if the face has acne in it, as it will
aggravate the condition.
